Nothing Announces Nothing OS 4.0 with Android 16 Preview

Rajshahi, BD — Nothing has officially unveiled Nothing OS 4.0, its latest Android skin built on Android 16, bringing a refreshed design, performance improvements, and new AI transparency tools. The company says the update reflects its vision of creating a mobile experience that is simple, elegant, and seamlessly functional.

What’s New in Nothing OS 4.0

The new update introduces a refined design across the interface, including redesigned lock screen clocks, cleaner Quick Settings, and standardised UI elements for a more unified look.

A new Extra Dark Mode extends Nothing’s signature aesthetic into a deeper, high-contrast theme that reduces eye strain while improving battery life. Multitasking also gets a boost with the new Pop-up View, allowing users to keep two floating app icons for faster switching.

Performance has been fine-tuned through app optimisation, making launches smoother and more responsive. The camera experience has been upgraded with the TrueLens Engine, offering new controls, creative presets, and a redesigned gallery for a more intuitive layout.

Nothing is also introducing greater AI transparency, with new controls, AI usage dashboards, and status hints that give users full visibility and control over AI features.

Rollout Timeline

The company confirmed that Nothing OS 4.0 will be available first through an Open Beta program, offering users early access to Android 16. The Nothing Phone (3) will be the first device to receive the update, followed by other Nothing and CMF models. However, the Nothing Phone (1) will not receive OS 4.0, as it has reached the end of its software support cycle.

With this release, Nothing continues to refine its minimalist yet powerful ecosystem, aiming to provide users with a mobile experience that enhances life without unnecessary complexity.
